With the Pennsylvania LIVE Job Fair coming up, we’re going to give you an idea of how to use Linkedin to get introduced to a potential military friendly employer in that area.

The first step I’m going to share is searching for the job I want. In this case I’m going to go to our job search site (www.h2h.jobs) and search for a job that I’m qualified for. In my case, I’m going to choose “Social Media” and I’m going to look in Pennsylvania.

The first job I see listed is by a company called D&B for a Social Media Director position. Perfect!

The next thing I’m going to do is go to Linkedin and log into my profile. In the search bar I’m going to type D&B.   As I type, a list of companies show up with the top one being D&B.

After clicking on the company name it took me to a page that listed out people who are employed by the company. Below each employee, I notice there are people that we share as a common connection.

As I scan the group listed, I decided that I’d like to get introduced to Kipp Barker, as I have a stronger tie with our shared connection.

In the next step, I’m going to click on our shared connection (Diane), and send her a personal message requesting an introduction to Kipp Barker.

With my personal message to Diane sent, I’m going to now go and research the company a little more using Google and other social networks.  You never know, I may find another worthy connection!
